Happy Thanksgiving's Day!

Trucking:
none

Thoughts:
Should get off this thing and do something productive, hum? Even though I could have gotten out and had Thanksgiving with Ben and Jai and/or Rick I have decided to stay tucked in, in my humble abode.

Projects planned for the day:
Wiring and plumbing seem to be in order and Turkey tacos (with the turkey being hamburger) later.

Did I get anything done?:
So far all I have done is get the date and time posted on the bottom of the cam shots. No big deal but I got stuck on the "virtual includes" used to make things easy. Now all I have to do is take a cam-shot, save it, change the time in an "inc" file and then upload both the file and the pic. PMC and the chronicles are both updated through the "inc" file include. I did start the wiring in the basement and am headed back to work on it now.

Trucking:
Ames and Belmond

Thoughts:
The wind is cold and biting like a sow.

Projects planned for the day:
Guess I'll dig into running new water lines and getting the outside faucet hooked up. I did get the wiring done yesterday. I'll shoot for making tacos again since I didn't get that accomplished...
too lazy :-)

Did I get anything done?:
Finished hooking up the outside faucet.

Trucking:
Marion

Thoughts:
I'm in the mood to update my cell phone.

Projects planned for the day:
It's Saturday, which means nothing planned until it happens

Did I get anything done?:
Oh ya! Got my cell phone updated and what an experience that was. Another salesperson from hell (saleslady). I ended up with a kyocera KX414 which works in tri-mode using CMA2000 technology, whatever that means? Really, I'm not sure if it's going to work in my location (fringe of a tower). It may be that this phone has to go back to that store and that saleslady and I just might try another phone from a more user friendly store? Will do some research today and decide in the next couple of days on which direction I want to go. And I FINALY got the tacos made along with a nice big crock of beef soup :-)

Trucking:
day off :-)

Thoughts:
very little thinking going on here... Coffee sure is good though!

Projects planned for the day:
Today is going to be kind of laid back. I need to do some research on water heaters, the kind that heat on demand versus the old tank type. Also need to cipher out my cell phone dilemma and then I plan to get down after the drain line for the washing machine. Might do some more waterline repair/replace. An old shower down in the basement needs to be removed and a minor drip needs fixed.

Did I get anything done?:
Ok, the cell phone issues are all resolved, I'm going to keep the kyocera cause it's a nice phone, has more features than the rest and that's it. In a couple of days I'll have forgot about the sales experience and all will be cool. On the water heater front, I found out the skivvy. On demand type water heaters that replace the tank type heaters are much more expensive so the issue of replacement boils down to economics. I have a gas tank type heater now. Costs to operate are about $200 per year based on averages. Stand by losses (heat up the chimney and pilot light) average about 10% to 20% per year, so, about $50 per year in my case. I can spend $750 on a demand type heater or $250 at most for a tank type. If I spend $500 more for a demand unit it will take me 10 years to recover the cost difference. It won't pay me to make the change. I can install three tank types good for 30-60 years for about the price of one on demand unit. And that just don't make no sense to me since I might be dead or have moved out of the house? Who knows?

[3:30 PM] For some reason the weather got awful nice, about 62 degrees for a high early this afternoon. That meant I could paint! And paint I did. Got the top coat of "Avalanche" on, a very nice creamy/dreamy white. And I did the bottom border in the purple to match the garage. I need to get some pics and post them...
Anyway, I ran out of weather as the temps dipped below 50 about 3:30 or so. I was going to push my luck but changed my mind. Suppose to get up to mid sixties again toward the end of the week, maybe around Sunday. I can hit it again and add the third color to the scheme of things. At least one coat is better than just the primer and considering I got lucky to get the primer on , I'm doing good :-) Now, it's time to crack a beer and head for the basement to get the washing machine drain pipe re-routed.
