"No mix no fuss..."
When you mix "your" business with politics, you could be...
in for big trouble. So for one time, be politically correct and avoid the hassel.
My good friend writes:
MMan, in the past I have tried to avoid political issues on my business site. I cannot do that any longer. Perhaps it will piss some people off, and perhaps it will cost me a few visitors.
My need to respond was nagging at me yet, I could identify with my friends cause and conviction for those things that seem terribly wrong, in today's reality.
So I had to put in my 2 cents worth....
The problem I see is in the *damage* that you may incur from *stupid people* and the unpredictable consequences that may fall in your lap. Would that be worth your effort to try to *beat* today's politicians? For what? Doesn't put anything in your pocket or help you! This could backfire on you so easy and offers you little gain even if you persuaded large numbers of people to your thinking. How bout a different *form/forum* of addressing these issues; maybe one suited more towards debate or just one where you can do your *political* thing without causing yourself grief.
I have really been trying to sort through what I want to *express* in a personal way and on the other hand, in a professional way. This was funny cause I was thinking about it on the way home and decided that the two things that shouldn't be discussed in an open forum or on a business basis are, politics and spirituality IMHO. Why? Not that I don't have the courage or moxie to do it because I do (as I know you do). More importantly because of my past experience with politics and religion. It has left me understanding that both, are very personal causes. Or to say it another way, politics and religion are highly personalized and due to that, there are no *correct* answers. And this leads to very personalized debate. This can lead to people doing really stupid things because they *feel* they are right and just in doing so although, they may lack the knowledge to make informed and intelligent decisions.
I'm not saying that your doing something wrong or that your *cause* is not justified or that you lack the knowledge or experience- you have all that and *I* think you have some good points. I think it would be a great topic and good place to express your thoughts on a *blog*. You could advertise and steer people to it, just as easily as you could to EWS. This way you could let it rip and tear some new assholes without jeopardizing your credibility and your business potential. The two don't mix, again, IMHO.
I realize that you did not ask me but, any GOOD friend would try to dissuade you from this one- wouldn't they? As always, remember my need to butt my nose into those issues that are none of my business. This need of *mine*- to write un-godly amounts of meaningless text is a social sickness that has yet to have been diagnosed or medicated. I must apologize for any offending and selfish opinions that may have caused you stress or anxiety. My intentions are always good. It is my delivery that sucks. Your humble friend and loud mouth. :-)
